The last day at the church.

Monday was our last day at the church. We had a lot of work to get fininshed and a lot of sad goodbyes to say. It was the hottest day we had seen so far and probably the hardest work day just because we were trying to finish up everything. By this time, my body was all messed up. I've never had swelled ankles and stuff like that. I had cankles. Yup...I couldn't tell my calves from my ankles. Even though I was drinking plenty of water, my body was retaining every drop. That made working that much more difficult.
As the day passed, I gave away all of my tools and things of that nature that I had brought on the trip. I also tried to get some good pictures of the people that we had worked with all week. This is a picture taken with Rico, the guy that called me the "large American". Those two boys hanging on me are Menards on the left and Gilbert on the right.

I read over my last post and got the impression that maybe I was making it seem like the only time we relaxed and weren't work work working was on Sunday. There were many times through the week when the people of the church would have something special for us that would help us get the full experience of the Philippines.
On one of the work days, they cut a bunch of young coconuts for us and bored a hole in them so we could drink the juice. I think it was Randy that said we should have a coconut chugging contest.....somehow from that we got a joke about Crystal's coconut being fermented. Everybody had a good laugh and for some reason, the fermented coconut joke stuck around for the rest of the trip.
This is a pic of the chugging contest.....I don't think Randy liked it as much as the rest of us. It had a slight sweet taste and there was a lot of it. I tried to drink it all but I couldn't because there was just too much.
