Wow.....it's been a long time
Life moves fast doesn't it? I need to finish this story before I forget it. Let's see.....where were we?
Monday, the last day at the church, was winding down. I remember being so tired and out of kilter. I don't think my body had ever been so out of whack. At the same time though.....I don't think my mind had ever been in better shape. It was tough as the day wound down and we started saying our goodbyes to everyone. There were tears and smiles and everything you'd expect from a group of people that had come to know and love each other and that were about to be split up for an extended time. We ended that day with our last meal at the church and then a time of playing a local dance/game thing that was much harder than it looked. William layed down the funky groove on his guitar as two of the locals banged two 10ft pieces of bamboo against the floor and then banged them together. They did it in time with the music and I think it went bang the bamboo against the floor two times and then bang the bamboo together one time and then repeat. The object was to move from one side of the bamboo to the other and not get caught in middle. I'm sure that explanation is as clear as mud but let me assure you....that explanation is ten times better than my performance at this dance thing. It was a fun time for sure and it was a good way to close things out. Shortly afterwards we said our last goodbyes and headed over the hill to the jeepney that was waiting to take us back to our motel. I had some really mixed emotions at that time. I really hated to leave but at the same time I was missing home something terrible. When we got back to the motel and started packing for the trip home, the more I packed the more I was ready to get home. I didn't sleep much at all that night.
